Inspo
One day I was scrolling through instagram, as one does, and stumbled across this post from Louis Vuitton. I really loved the simplicity of the top, but also the small chain at the neckline that elevated it. I also thought it would be an interesting make because of the cut, fit, and simplicity. When a top is on the more simple side, the small things like the fit and lines become extra important to make it still really stand out.
Materials
The fabric is a wider rib knit in this really pretty pale pink. I didn't want to do white, because I thought color would give it a bit of something extra, and I picked this color to still suit the person I was making for. The great thing about this fabric is that it keeps more structure than a basic tshirt knit so it will form to the body really nicely. For the chain at the neckline I got this rhinestone rope that I will split and handsew to the top.
The Process
I took the measurements for the person I made the top for and made the pattern. It's not a very big top, or a ton of fabric so the initial assembly was super smooth. Although, at the first fitting the neckline and armhole hems were far too thick and didn't give the fit I was looking for. So I made them a lot smaller and the 2nd fitting was perfect. After that I hand sewed the string of rhinestones onto the neckline to give the top something just a lil extra.
Final Product
I hope you enjoyed either watching the video or reading through my process of how I created this Louis Vuitton cropped tank top. I'm definitely on team "make the thing" instead of spending thousands on designers for their logo. It turned out really cute and I had a ton of fun making it!
I actually think I still have some left over fabric so if you'd like one for yourself, feel free to contact me through the custom page or my instagram account @uniquecollectiveco.
